NW 19 - Using OpenTransport With CFM-68K (09-Feb-96)

Q How do I use OpenTransport with CFM-68K?

A The short answer is that, at the moment, you don't.

To get a better answer to this, you must first specify what you want to do: use CFM-68K to build OT modules (plug-ins like device drivers and protocols), or call the OT API from a CFM-68K application or library (an OpenDoc part, for example).

Building OT modules using CFM-68K is not currently supported nor is it likely to be supported. ASLM is your only alternative for building 68K modules.

Support for calling OT from a CFM-68K application or library is likely to be incorporated in the next major release of OT. This is in line with Apple's shared library strategy, which indicates a move away from ASLM in general.
